RG-59 is the most correct solution. Cable Internet providers use transport solutions such as DOCSIS to provide data over coaxial cable to an outside network segment. RJ-45 is inappropriate because it is used to terminate Ethernet, and we are connecting to an ISP, which is often greater than 100m away from the end user. DB-9 is a 9-pin serial termination designated under RS-232.

RG-59 is a cable, that uses F-type connectors. I find the CompTIA exams wording technically very incoherent and vague. This is not the way to test knowledge about IT.

Would be too simple to just ask what terminates an Ethernet connection. All of the wording on the actual exam is setup to trick you, not test your knowledge. I've been getting 90's on all of my material, and still had trouble determining which "most correct" answer should I choose. Another hilarious one I got was the following... "Which of these would be best to read in direct sunlight? I've always thought E-Reader. per exam objectives. Actually if you're hit with the option VR headet, that's the right answer because technically it's a BETTER answer due to not having any affect on UV rays or however you'd like to word it. Or maybe I just suck

RG 59 seems to be the answer though I doubted initially, This is a proof I found on youtube. https://youtu.be/vc3f-lVU78A

as per Mike book: Cable Internet connections start with an RG-6 or RG-59 cable coming into your house. The cable connects to a cable modem that then connects to a small home router or your network interface card (NIC) via Ethernet

Even if you used coaxial cable you would you rg6. I'm thinking the answer has got to be rj45

You have a point about the RG-6. But I believe RJ45 connects the Modem to the SOHO router/WAP. I think that RG-59 is still correct because it is just older than RG-6 but still deals with "cable."

Can't be RJ45 as the question mentions it is a cable modem so wouldn't take an ethernet style connector. RG6 and RG59 both technically use F-type connectors but are usually referred to in Comptia (from what i've seen so far) by their cable gauges so you can be more specific which one you are meaning. What they want you to know is that you need a coax cable for a cable modem and there is only one coax connector available.

RG-59 isn't a connector type so I am guessing the word "connector" is slightly off. Perhaps "connection" ?
