Answer D is funny, could just imagine the technician removing the motherboard and wait 10 minutes next to it praying for the issue to be fixed ^^

the answer according to CompTIA is to clear the CMOS by removing the battery for ten seconds, because obviously the CompTIA test makers have never cleared the CMOS before. In the real world, everyone knows you don't touch the battery for that. That's what the CLR jumper is for.

A "Supervisor Password" locks or unlocks access to the system setup utility (CMOS setup). A "User Password" locks or unlocks the computer booting to an operating system. You can either log in to CMOS and disable the password protection or remove ( and place back after a few seconds) CMOS battery to revert everything back to default.

In BIOS/UEFI settings you can set password before boot, but you can remove the set password by remove the CMOS battery.

Basically, a CMOS is where your BIOS/UEFI settings are stored. However, it is volatile, meaning that once it loses power, the settings are gone. Removing the CMOS battery (or pressing the designated CMOS button that most motherboards have today) will reset the BIOS/UEFI settings, thus removing the password lock.
