The gateway is incorrectly configured. 192.168.1.255 is the broadcast address for the subnet 192.168.1.0/24 and should not be used as a gateway. The gateway should be a valid host IP on the subnet, such as 192.168.1.1. Because the server can communicate within the same subnet but not outside it, the most likely issue is the incorrect gateway configuration.
