The question prompts us with two nouns, separately: • Device • Cable The sentences, I typed above, signifies that the device, that is using the cable, is defective. (It does not recognize the cable when plugged in). Furthermore, the last sentence muddies the idea that the issue resides solely with the cable and gives the impression that other "devices" would work fine using it.
