When you see the word "scalable" in a cloud environment question, it's a dead giveaway for "rapid elasticity".

Why is something that has to do with cloud on an A+ exam

This question by the way, is a perfect example of what I'm talking about, in that as far as I'm concerned CompTIA is deliberately trying to fail people so that they can charge them again for a retest, which is full price if you don't purchase one of their bundles. No desktop support technician would know this unless they were cloud certified, and so therefore this is an unfair question which does not belong on this test.

I would suggest others to review the objectives for Comptia A+ before taking the test. As virtualization and cloud computing is listed as 12% of the test within the official Comptia site.

As far as I'm concerned this question shouldn't even exist on this test, because it has nothing to do with desktop support. This question belongs on a cloud certification test, not A+.

I kind of agree with you. However, IT technicians need to know cloud services to recommend to a customer or a manager/boss.

Rapid elasticity is a cloud computing term for scalable provisioning, or the ability to provide scalable services. Experts point to this kind of scalable model as one of five fundamental aspects of cloud computing. (from What is Rapid Elasticity? - Definition from Techopedia)
