100 percent is IMAP.. accessing shared mailbox... SMPT for sending mail. S/MIME is for encryption essentially and its for sure not SNMP which has zero to do with viewing a shared mailbox through a mobile app.

Yeah, they don't specify whether they want to send or recieve mail. Receive is IMAP, sending is SMTP.

Yeah SMTP makes no sense here. I'm picking IMAP on the exam

The answer should be both IMAP and SMTP (A and C) As far as i know you cant respond to a message if you cant "see" it... Also needing access to a mailbox really means that you should be able to see the mails in that mailbox. so it should be IMAP. If this question is really on the exam i am going to go mad!!! Comptia should NOT ask for incomplete answers. IMAP: sinse mails are on the server, to see & receive them. SMTP: Sending email messages between mail servers. Sending email messages from a client device.

"Needs access to" is too vague. This user can either be sending with SMTP and needs access to the server, or receiving/ viewing messages with IMAP which also needs access to the server.

Can you check if that explains the answer ? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/troubleshoot/client-connectivity/accessing-shared-mailboxes-fails ""NoPrimarySmtpAddress" error when accessing shared mailboxes through POP/IMAP in Exchange Server"

I think so...from your article, Alex1313 This problem occurs because the POP/IMAP authentication process expects authenticated users to have a primary SMTP address defined.

Comptia likes to do things that make you forget the order of things. To access a mailbox 'as a user' you need SMTP to send the request, as the first step its the first requirement.

The key difference between SMTP and IMAP is where it is used. IMAP is used only between the client who is retrieving the email and the server where the emails are stored. In contrast, SMTP is used by the client to send emails to a server but it is also used by servers to push the email to another server; especially true when the sender and recipient do not subscribe to the same service provider. Sure you could use SMTP and do a lot more work or you can use the IMAP which is specifically design for retrieving messages and managing mailboxes. Your same articles even state that you should use SMTP for sending and IMAP for retrieving emails.

I think its D ..SNMP is an open-source protocol, meaning that any manufacturer can utilize it. ... This allows for managed devices to talk across your network, even if different manufacturers produced those SNMP devices.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a method of accessing and storing mail on a mail server. The answer is NOT SMPT, which would only be to send mail.

I'm still studying for the exam but this sounds wrong to me. Wouldn't the answer be IMAP?
