I think it's thin client if you are connecting to a VM remotely

I thought so too, but it doesn't mention anything about the hardware and a thin client is a basic machine to connect to a VM server.

"When a user logs onto the computer it loads a virtual desktop" I would argue that the computer the user is logging into is what the question is asking about, that device would be a thin client connecting to a VM.

the questions says OS is there (but with disabled features) so it is not a thin client but instead a VM.

I tried to find out why it is B. The thin client machine has less hardware where as the virtual machine has less software. Both only have what they need. The virtual machine in this case can be on a thick client and only have the applications it needs streamed to it virtually. The thin client can have all the software and apps on the server machine it is connected to but only the hardware needed to function. What had me confused to was the fact that thin clients and virtual machines are used together and it confuses people to have it separate. Thin client only required hardware. Virtual machine only required software or apps.

context: logs onto the computer - loads the virtual desktop. Thin computer is set for basic applications loaded in the system and so access to the server. The setup in this question is, when login into the system it loads the Virtual Desktop, hence environment for Virtual Machine.

thin Client...Thin clients are also referred to as VDI or Virtual desktop - professer messer https://www.professormesser.com/free-a-plus-training/220-801/designing-custom-computer-systems/ although old, still accurate.

this is a THIN CLIENT. first of all I dont think VMs have "human input devices" and it states that it loads a Virtual desktop with all necessary programs which is what comptia states about setting up a THIN Client. I would love to hear someone else's take on this. Also Thin Clients load virtual desktops.

The virtual machine can share usb ports and "human input devices" with the host (which would be the physical machine that the technician boots the VM from).
