A network administrator wants to narrow the scope of a subnet to two usable IP addresses within a class C network. Which of the following is the correct CIDR notation?
Key is in the question "narrow scope" and "class C". This eliminates all choices apart from ones that start with 192. Now that is the class C. For the narrow scope we want fewest available amount of ip addresses which is a /30. So given answer is correct
We deduce the class of an IP address from the number in the first octet, see below
[0-127].x.x.x - Class A
[128-191].x.x.x - Class B
[192-223].x.x.x - Class C
This makes C the only correct answer from the above options
Everything I have ever read says that Class C private address range is 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255. Can anyone tell me how 192.1.0.124 is within that range?
It seems that correct answr is D. 192.168.0.192/24.
IP address range for class C is: from 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
C. 192.1.0.124/30 - it is out of range for class C.
D. 192.168.0.192/24 - correct answer.
E. 192.170.10.0/24 - it is out of range for class C.
Class C is from 192.x.x.x to 223.x.x.x with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. So C is correct for the question. This gives 4 ip address which only 2 are usable.
10.x.x.x is Class A
172.x.x.x is Class B
192.x.x.x is Class C
