For those of you who need to hear this, double check and reread the question as it might trip you up on first glance. Your first thought might be E (12) because that is how many ports and collision domains (not broadcast like the question asks for). However the ports corelate with Collision Domains not Broadcast Domains. Switches give multiple devices a single Broadcast Domain but many Collision Domains. Hubs have 1 broadcast AND collision domain while Routes give each device its own Broadcast Domain.
It's an unmanaged switch, that's why you only have one broadcast domain. If the switch was managed, you'd have 12 broadcast domains and 12 collision domains.
B is the right answer because it's unmanaged, so if something comes in it goes out to them all.. which is.. all just one broadcast domain, since it's unmanaged.. so like, 1 and stuff.
why it's not A?? it sais how many bcasts are CREATED? nothing is created. broadcast that comes to a switch is already one. switch does not create bcast!! Or does it ?
You think routers create broadcasts? It's the packet sent by devices that are broadcasts. There's one broadcast domain on a switch because any packet sent through the broadcast address is propagated in all ports.
Correct answer is B - 1 broadcast domain
The switch creates 12 collision domains and 1 broadcast domain.
A switch creates a single broadcast domain, not separate broadcast domains so any answer with 12 broadcast domains is incorrect.
A switch creates separate collision domains for each port, not a single collision domain for the entire switch.
