110 punch down block is also referred to as cross-connect block, terminating block, or a connecting block for network cables. It is a tool that connects one group of wires to another group of wires through a system of metal pegs that the wires are attached to. 110 punch down block is often used in telecommunications closets that connects station cabling to the trunk cabling that goes from an IDF to the MDF. Being the predecessors to patch panels, 110 punch down blocks were commonly used to support low-bandwidth Ethernet and token-ring networks. https://www.fiber-optic-transceiver-module.com/110-punch-down-block-wiring-system.html

You are all wrong. The cables are “drops” from the computers, are not terminated cables (no RJ-45), so they terminate in a 110 block, which ia the back of the patch panel. It would have been a larch panel if the cables were terminated, which is not the case.

110 blocks are used for copper connections. not fiber which an IDF is. The answer is patchpanel. "110 block is an older patch panel you use to connect Voice over IP and networking equipment. Modern patch panels can support more cabling options at much higher speeds. A 110 block is copper-based, but newer patch panels depend on fiber for a more streamlined network setup"

It's absolutely patch panel. Usually 110 blocks are used for old telecommunication systems and 66 blocks are even older versions of those. Since these are RJ-45 connections to a Cat6a, it's likely we would be terminating at a Patch Panel.

you left out the following statement... "Being the predecessors to patch panels, 110 punch down blocks were commonly used to support low-bandwidth Ethernet and token-ring networks." is this saying that a patch panel cannot do what a 110 block can do?
