I totally agree. Its common sense to restart before doing anything else, but remember, this is COMPTIA after all.

While the charger is plugged in what about Adjusting the Brightness , Disabling Battery saver, disabling dark mode. before deleting everything. SmartPhones will most likely contain importnent data to its owner either its personal like family pictures,numbers ... or work related data such as accounts,Scanned documents,invoices etc..

I think when the question is asking what to do FIRST, it's supposed to be the least intrusive option like restart a phone and not something so drastic...

that's crazy to think you would go to the extreme to factory reset FIRST without even trying to restart the phone or reseat the battery.

From book comptia 220 -901 by mark edward soper says if a smaryphone or tablet has dim display that wont respond to users setting try performing hard reset. .......Dont know anymore

The technician connects the device to a power source and its still dim. why? probably the battery is not properly seated. i would rather reseat the battery, my answer is D

Definitely wrong. You would never make major changes to a device First. Ideally you probably wouldn't restart it First either but that's the best option here with minimal overall impact.
