Provisioning of a server is more inline with IaaS!

I believe the given answer is correct. IaaS = host, PaaS = build. The tech is provisioning (building) a Linux server (the server platform and the OS), thus PaaS.

The answer should be D: IaaS. A PaaS vendor will provide and maintain the operating system that developers work on and the application runs on.

I think it's IaaS. PaaS is mostly applications, and the service provider would manage the servers/OS. Since the engineer is provisioning the server, that means it should be IaaS.

But PaaS does not allow you to chose the OS. Shouldn't it be IaaS ?

I think the server already came with a Linux OS, so they would just be configuring it for the network upon receiving it. So technically, it would be an entire server and not just the software or OS.
