As absurd as it sounds, I think they are differentiating from GPU to make processing operations and VGA (video graphics adapter, not the cable) to output the image. Nowadays we use GPU to identify the graphics card as a whole, which might not be technically correct if you think about it. I would normally choose GPU, too, but for this question... reluctantly VGA.
