While troubleshooting a magnetic hard drive, a technician hears a loud clicking noise, identifies S.M.A.R.T. errors, and notices the operating system will not load. Which of the following is MOST likely the issue?
A.
The cooling fans are faulty, causing overheating.
The S.M.A.R.T. system allows the user to give full information about the physical status of the hard disk using the estimation method, which can be used to calculate the approximate time before an HDD failure.
The question is testing the significance of clicking noises in combination with S.M.A.R.T. errors, which would most likely indicate an imminent hard drive failure. Answer B is the only choice that pertains to hard drives.
I tried my best to understand but i cant choose if its A or B.
Did some searches and found out that the common cause of a SMART error is Temperature problem or hard drives have high average temperature.
On the other hand the source did say that SMART is a tool that lets you know that a drive will fail beforehand.
