OBJ-5.2: Cable certifiers can provide a “pass” or “fail” status following the industry standards and can also show detailed information such as “open,” “short,” or the length of the cable.

The answer to Step 1 is wrong. It is not Cable Certifier, it is a Toner Probe. A Toner Probe produces a report on any opens, shorts, or miswires like the cable test result in the graphic. Cable certifiers are used to determine whether your network meets specific IOS or TIA standards, ie Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 7)

You are thinking of a cable qualification test. Cable certifiers are also called TDRs (which shows breaks in the wire). Now take note that if it shows open/short and the length is still the same means it's crimped wrong. Source: I am a field technician at an ISP company.

Also, Toner probes are used to check where the cable is connected to, not to detect how long a cable is or if there is a short. Stop misleading people.

lol really? bc my fluke toner makes a beeping noise and that's about it. It can check for continuity but it does not generate anything remotely similar to this PBQ diagram.
