A user cannot write files to the /home/user directory. The junior Linux administrator runs the following commands: Which of the following BEST represents why the user cannot write files?
A.
The filesystem is out of inodes.
B.
The filesystem is out of file space.
C.
The filesystem is not configured for the user to write to it.
D.
The filesystem does not have a group write permission.
A) The filesystem is out of inodes
Look at the output of df -i in the question. The column headings have been cropped out but they should be
Filesystem, Inodes, IUsed, IFree, IUse%, Mounted on
So the 4th column of the output shows the number of inodes free... which is 0, therefore the drive has run out of inodes.
I hate these questions. At least 2 of these answers are right. But if we answered it the way they questioned it, the user is not able to WRITE because there is no WRITE rights. At the same time, the filesystem ran out of inodes. Which most people agree with..I can't wait to pass this test and move out of CompTIA LOL..
