The answer is obviously A. The real question is why does this site show it as C?

After analyzing every option. Option A & C could be the possible answers. But if we compare both. I strongly believe its C. Why? Because in option A, email creates urgency by stating that a cash settlement has been awarded and will expire soon. The recipient is pressured to act quickly to claim the supposed settlement, potentially leading them to provide personal information or financial details hastily. Now lets analyze option C, Here, the urgency is created by requesting a donation for a local charity, possibly under the pretext of an urgent cause or a time-sensitive campaign. The immediacy and emotional appeal of helping a cause can prompt quick, less thought-through actions. I believe option C makes more sense because it creates more urgency than option A. Because in option A, they are saying cash settlement, what kind of cash settlement and why I am gonna take that cash settlement, But i can fall for option C. That might be someone in need.

The answer is A. option A is about self enrichment, whereas C is about giving away money. Human nature puts under more stress when we fear missing out on enrichment, rather then helping others. Its natural survival instinct.

Selected Answer: A
This technique is designed to create a sense of urgency in the recipient by claiming that they have been awarded a cash settlement. However, the email also warns that the settlement will expire soon, putting pressure on the recipient to act quickly. The attacker hopes that the urgency will override the recipient's normal caution, leading them to click on malicious links or provide sensitive information without carefully verifying the authenticity of the email. Option C (A vishing call that requests a donation be made to a local charity) involves social engineering through voice communication (voice phishing). While it might create a sense of importance or appeal to the recipient's emotions to encourage a donation, it doesn't specifically exploit a person's sense of urgency as described in Option A. Therefore, the correct answer is A. A phishing email stating a cash settlement has been awarded but will expire soon.

Confused why it says the correct answer is C, when it's clearly A. Is Comptia expecting people to answer C for that?

Answer is A. Option C is wrong, vishing call that requests a donation be made to a local charity, targets the victim's generosity rather than urgency

The reason they say C is the correct answer: Vishing is VOICE-Phishing. It's much harder to turn down a person on the phone than to ignore written correspondence. I think the authors are trying to draw a distinction between the written communication and the voice communication. But I agree, it's misleading and a very gray area. Unless it maps directly to something in their courseware, I might do a re-write on this question.
