Which of the following protocols would enable a company to upgrade its internet connection by acquiring its own public IP prefixes and autonomous system number?
Public BGP routing prefixes must be registered. There is no requirement anywhere to register EIGRP AS numbers, since it is an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) like RIP and OSPF.
EIGRP
Reason: Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) Operates within an autonomous system. Routers & switches will operate using Interior Gateway Protocol.
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) replaced the Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP) in 1993. One of the major reasons for this was the change to classless public IPv4 addresses in the Internet Protocol, which IGRP could not support.
I'm a bit confused whether the question expects ipv6 aggregation. The prefix can be acquired but no ASN. So, it could be BGP although BGP does not automatically receive a prefix
Chat GPT: The protocol that would enable a company to upgrade its internet connection by acquiring its own public IP prefixes and autonomous system number is Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). BGP is a routing protocol that is used to distribute routing information within a single autonomous system (AS) and between multiple ASs on the Internet. It allows a company to advertise its own public IP prefixes and AS number to other networks, enabling them to route traffic to the company's network.
BGP is a routing protocol that is used to exchange routing information between different autonomous systems (ASes) on the internet. An autonomous system is a network or group of networks that is under the same administrative control and uses a common routing protocol. By acquiring its own public IP prefixes and autonomous system number, a company can use BGP to advertise these prefixes to other ASes and establish its own internet connection. This would enable the company to have more control over its internet connection and potentially improve its connectivity.EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) is a routing protocol used within a single autonomous system, so it would not be used to establish a connection to the internet.
IPv6 is a version of the Internet Protocol (IP) used to identify devices on a network. It is not a routing protocol and would not be used to establish an internet connection.MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is a networking technology that is used to route packets between different networks. It is not a routing protocol and would not be used to establish an internet connection.
Which of the following protocols would enable a company to upgrade its internet connection by acquiring its own public IP prefixes and autonomous system number? A. EIGRP (bing.com)
It's my understanding that what the question is asking for is two things. (1)Atanoms system number (2) Internet Protocol. If you want a lower administrator number, BGP wins Border Gateway Protocol, Hence, the name. But the business needs one thing for sure. Hence, Internet Protocol Addresses, which, BGP does not do.
The question said a company to upgrade its internet connection by acquiring "its own public IP prefixes", and since EIGRP is an interior gateway protocol that is well suited for routing within smaller networks, then answer A is a better option here. Agree?
Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, just please let me know where I'm wrong it's a great way to just continue learning lol.
Haven't found much about this for EIGRP. However when looking up the details I feel like the answer should be B.
A border gateway protocol public ASN or AS number is a unique number given to an autonomous system. EAS is a group of gateways or routers that has a unique routing policy under a single administration, ASN is available worldwide to route IP prefixes from one AS to a neighboring AS under BGP. Routers under a single AS would be under an organization entity managed by one or more Network engineers.
I noticed another question on the practice test. Question 66 that's asking the same thing. The answer is BGP as well
