Selected Answer: C
This part would be AUP as it's the companies resources. A network technician is reviewing a document that specifies how to handle access to company resources, such as the Internet and printers And this part of the first sentence would be BYOD , when devices are not part of the company's assets. However neither of the two above parts are a question. It's a statement of what the technician is doing. The second sentence contains the actual question being asked. Which of the following agreements would a user be required to accept before using the company's resources? Since the question is only asking what they need to accept to use the companies resources this would be strictly AUP. If they had asked what the user would need to accept to use their devices for company business it would then be BYOD.

You might be confused here about the difference between the company's resources and the company's assets. Assets, in this context, are the devices used to access the resources, like application data, email inboxes etc. User-owned assets are within the scope of a BYOD policy, company-owned assets fall under an AUP (acceptable use policy). The answer, therefore, should be A.

The question is tricky and the phrase "when devices are not part of the company's assets" was place there to throw you off track. For you to use a company's resources you must first sign AUP document. Now ask you self, is BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) a document that you can sign? No, not at all. It's just an acronym. So therefore, the agreements a user be required to accept before using the company's resources is AUP. (Acceptable Use Policy)

Your logic is flawed, because the question makes it clear that BYOD *IS* an agreement that you must *agree* with. People are over thinking this: The answer is BYOD because the question mentioned personal devices. That's what is being tested here. The fact that AUP is a *better*, more over arching answer is just typical Comptia ambiguous sloppiness.

7 Things to Include in your BYOD Policy 1: Specify what devices are permitted. ... 2: Determine who owns information stored on the device. ... 3: Provide a list of permitted apps. ... 4: Decide on phone number ownership. ... 5: Agree on a payment structure. ... 6: Outline security requirements. ... 7: Be flexible.

Answer is A - BYOD Its a trick question. Focus on "when devices are not part of the company's assets", this comment alone changes the answer from AUP to BYOD. Its referring to an employee accessing company resources with their own device.

I just have to say I LOVE this site (a co-worker recommended to me). It reinforces the idea to read Carefully the questions: "before using the company's resources" --> If we read the question we have a battle in our minds of BYOD vs AUP, but the word BEFORE it makes clear for me = AUP is the correct answer.

That makes no sense. Accessing company resources such as internet or printers WHEN DEVICES ARE NOT PART OF COMPANY ASSETS. A bring your own device policy is where this is defined. Acceptable use policy on it's own covers use of company assets and not what personal devices are allowed to do. The word BEFORE adds no additional context to the question.

An Acceptable Use Policy outlines the acceptable behaviors and responsibilities of users when accessing company resources. It typically includes guidelines regarding the appropriate use of company equipment, internet usage, data security practices, and consequences for violating the policy. By accepting the AUP, users acknowledge their understanding of the guidelines and agree to abide by them while using the company's resources. This helps to ensure the security, integrity, and proper use of the company's assets.

The agreement that a user would be required to accept before using the company's resources, especially when their devices are involved, is typically referred to as an "Acceptable Use Policy" (AUP). So, the correct answer is: C. AUP

I would go with AUP here also. "Internet" has nothing to do with BYOD!

Everyone answering C is not actually explaining why, they're just quoting the first part and ignoring the second. You get a different answer from Copilot and ChatGPT depending on which words you highlight so AI isn't much help here. "A network technician is reviewing a document that specifies how to handle access to company resources, such as the Internet and printers, when devices are NOT part of the company's assets. Which of the following agreements would a user be required to accept before using the company's resources?" Resources and assets are different things. The question is asking what document should you refer to when a user is handling company resources (intranet, shared drives etc) via a DEVICE which is NOT a company asset (a user's personal phone or laptop). A cruelly worded question but why would they specify a device which is NOT a company asset only for the answer to not have anything to do with that statement, it must be referring to answer A - BYOD.

. AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines the terms and conditions that users must agree to abide by when using an organization's resources, including network access, computers, and the Internet. It establishes guidelines for responsible and acceptable use of company assets, helping to ensure that users understand their responsibilities and the boundaries of acceptable behavior.

"when devices are not part of the company's assets" is the very definition of BYOD. BYOD is an AUP specifically scoped to a BYOD scenario.

The question is which policy must be accepted to use company resources. Here it's a practice of paying attention to how the sentence is structured & not misinterpreting extra information. :)
