It says its an EXTERNAL webcam. With an external webcam, it's usually plugged in via USB. So to reseat it you would unplug it and plug it back in.

Agreed - you'd want to go for the lowest-hanging fruit such as is it plugged in, is it turned on

They should really have 'check the privacy cover' as answer but I would reseat the webcam first before committing to reinstalling software/updating drivers. Seems like the quickest thing to check.

A,B,D are wrong C is the correct answer Reseating the webcam means unplugging and plugging back the webcam into the laptop’s USB port. This can help to ensure that the webcam is properly connected and recognized by the laptop. Reseating the webcam is a simple and quick troubleshooting technique that can solve many common issues, such as loose or faulty connections, power or bandwidth problems, or driver or software conflicts.

Reseating the webcam is the first step that a technician should do, because it follows the principle of starting with the easiest and most obvious solution before moving on to more complex and time-consuming ones. Reseating the webcam can also help to isolate the problem and eliminate other possible causes.

The other options are not the first steps that a technician should do, because they are more disruptive or less effective. Restarting the computer and running system diagnostics (option B) may be helpful if the problem is caused by a software or hardware error, but it may also cause data loss or interruption of other tasks. Reinstalling the webcam software and drivers (option C) may be necessary if the problem is caused by a corrupted or outdated software or driver, but it may also introduce compatibility or configuration issues. Researching new webcam firmware (option D) may be useful if the problem is caused by a firmware bug or vulnerability, but it may also pose security or stability risks.

If a laptop’s external webcam software is running, but it shows no image or video, the first troubleshooting step that a technician should perform is to reseat the webcam 1 . Reseating the webcam involves unplugging the webcam from the computer and then plugging it back in 1. This can help to ensure that the webcam is properly connected to the computer and that there are no loose connections 1. If reseating the webcam does not resolve the issue, the technician can move on to other troubleshooting steps such as restarting the computer and running system diagnostics, reinstalling the webcam software and drivers, or researching new webcam firmware

First is to reseat the webcam - ( To reseat something just means to unplug or remove it, and then to plug it back in or reinstall it. Reseating a computer component will often fix problems caused by loose connections ) If that doesn't work then we think about Restart the computer with the webcam unplugged or Uninstall and reinstall drivers and software

When a laptop's external webcam software is running, but it shows no image or video, the technician should FIRST restart the computer and run system diagnostics. Restarting the computer can resolve various software-related issues, including temporary glitches or conflicts that might be preventing the webcam from functioning correctly. System diagnostics can help identify hardware-related problems, ensuring that the webcam hardware is detected and functioning properly.

According to ChatGPT... Reseating the webcam (Option C) involves disconnecting and reconnecting the webcam's physical connection to the laptop. Sometimes, the webcam connection may become loose or improperly seated, causing the lack of image or video. By reseating the webcam, you ensure a proper connection, which can often resolve the issue.

ChatGPT disagrees with that answer... Reinstalling the webcam software and drivers (Option D) may be necessary if there is a problem with the software or drivers, but it is not the first step to take. It is recommended to check the physical connection first before attempting software reinstallation.

Selected Answer: B
The FIRST thing a technician should do when a laptop's external webcam software is running but showing no image or video is to perform a restart of the computer and run system diagnostics. Therefore, the correct answer is option B. Restarting the computer and running system diagnostics can help to identify any potential hardware or software issues that might be causing the problem. If the issue persists after running system diagnostics, the technician may consider other troubleshooting steps such as reseating the webcam or reinstalling the webcam software and drivers.

Selected Answer: C
The first step that a technician should perform is to reseat the webcam. Reseating the webcam involves physically unplugging it and plugging it back into the laptop, which can resolve connectivity or power issues. If this does not resolve the problem, then the technician can try restarting the computer and running system diagnostics to check for any hardware or software issues. Updating the webcam firmware or reinstalling the webcam software and drivers can be done as subsequent steps if reseating the webcam does not resolve the issue.
