An end user wants to have a second monitor installed on a laptop. Which of the following would allow a technician to configure the laptop to show both screens once the cable is connected?
So in the CompTIA books, it always states the FN key for laptop displays. Going to display settings is a more granular way to set up the display. Does Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I was thinking the same, however i think using the FN key is really a second step for if, for whatever reason, after configuring display settings the display still doesn't show up.
The question specifically asks what you do AFTER the cables are connected. examprepper is correct, any CompTIA training material i've read mentions Fn keys first when it talks about multiple monitor set ups. Not saying you can't do this through display settings just that's what CompTIA generally states the first step would be.
In the IT world, knowing shortcuts can make you seem a bit more professional so sometimes CompTIA orients itself on those sort of commands. In the real world, FN function can be a pain and on old systems can trigger issues. While it's a cheap easy fix, it doesn't catch all the problems. It also doesn't neccesitate that a reboot will keep the same FN settings. For instance a laptop may switch us FN only to have powerpoint be configured poorly and when doing the slideshow you get terrible resolution issues, poor pairing, or more. I'd agree with display settings just being the more wise solution and testing afterwards with whatever needs to be used. Since this is a permanent setup too, restarting once to make sure the setting sticks will save an extra trip back to fix things :)
I was stuck trying to figure out why this was not B and I realized the key word here is "end user". This is being worked on remotely. The technician can not press the function key remotely so the only choice they have is to go to adjust the monitor display settings
I will go for B because the Fn and function key (for instance F11 depending on your device I guess) will bring out the option to either project, extend, duplicate etc.
B. Use the Fn and function key combination: Many laptops have dedicated function keys (usually labeled with an icon representing a monitor or display) that can be used in combination with the Fn (Function) key to toggle or switch between different display modes. By pressing the appropriate Fn key along with the designated function key, the laptop can be configured to extend or duplicate the display onto the connected external monitor.
this only makes sense if it means the monitor display settings located on the operating system and not the OS. if it means the actual monitor's display settings located on the monitor by pressing a button, then it would have to be FN key. Guessing it is referring to the OS, and thats some poor wording if so. should just be called "display settings"
I agree with the answer C. The question is asking what the tech should CONFIGURE AFTER the cables are CONNECTED... he needs to configure the Display Settings
As a technician, we should go to display setting to configure main display, extended display and moving mouse from right to left or left to right . End user means remotely
the question basically says first time hook up. so the fn button is not the correct answer to the question. the 2nd monitor orientation needs set up first
I had this question in my exam, what do you think which domain this question refers to?
