Selected Answer: C
If the RAM was faulty it would cause the PC to shut down almost immediately. It is possible the RAM could be the cause, with a delayed shut down but the most likely cause due to the test being performed would have to be C as this is a long strenuous test to push all components to the limit for a period of time at which overheating is VERY likely.

If a workstation shuts down unexpectedly during a burn-in test, overheating is the most likely cause for this symptom. Burn-in tests are designed to stress and test all the major sub-systems of a computer for endurance, reliability, and stability 2. During the test, the components are exercised under extreme operating conditions such as elevated temperatures and voltages. If the system is not adequately cooled, it can overheat and shut down unexpectedly. Option A (Faulty CMOS battery) is unlikely to cause the system to shut down during a burn-in test. Option B (OS update issue) is also unlikely to cause the system to shut down during a burn-in test. Option D (Faulty RAM) can cause the system to crash or freeze, but it is less likely to cause the system.
