Selected Answer: A
NTP (Network Time Protocol) servers are organized into a hierarchy known as strata. Stratum 1 servers are the most accurate and are typically connected directly to a highly accurate reference time source, such as an atomic clock. Stratum 2 servers are connected to stratum 1 servers and are slightly less accurate than stratum 1 servers. Stratum 3 servers are connected to stratum 2 servers and are slightly less accurate than stratum 2 servers, and so on. In order to use the most accurate NTP reference available, the administrator should configure the server to use a stratum 1 NTP server. B. Stratum 2 servers are less accurate than stratum 1 servers. C. Stratum 3 servers are less accurate than stratum 2 servers. D. Stratum 4 servers are less accurate than stratum 3 servers.

Selected Answer: A
As you progress through different strata there are network delays involved that reduce the accuracy of the NTP server in relation to UTC. Timestamps generated by an EndRun Stratum 1 Time Server will typically have 10 microseconds accuracy to UTC. A stratum-2 server will have anywhere from 1/2 to 100 ms accuracy to UTC and each subsequent stratum layer (stratum-3, etc.) will add an additional 1/2-100 ms of inaccuracy.
