This is another poorly written question/answer bank. M.2 is a form factor, it is not in itself a storage device. Yes, it is commonly used with SSDs but the question is asking for a storage device, not a form factor. The answer bank option should say "M.2 SSD". I mean really HDD is the only option provided that is actually a storage device, but I believe this is just a poorly edited answer bank and M.2 is the partially correct answer. Hopefully the real exam doesn't include this question or has an amended version of it.

A. M.2 Explanation: Installing an M.2 SSD (solid-state drive) will significantly improve a workstation's response time for frequently used applications and data due to its high-speed performance.

For work station, we use SAS. For Dekstop PC we use m.2

Selected Answer: A
A. M.2 M.2 is a type of solid-state drive (SSD) that provides faster storage and retrieval times compared to traditional hard disk drives (HDD). It is a newer technology that is faster and more efficient than HDDs, making it a great option for improving the overall response time for frequently used applications and data. Installing an M.2 drive would provide a significant boost to the workstation's performance without having to remove the current hard drive.

SAS is primarily used in servers. M.2 is substantially faster than SAS.

The question asks for which “storage device” would be best. SAS seems more like a software package to me than a storage device. Wouldn’t the answer be M.2 because that is a storage device that would be faster and could be installed with the current hard drive still in place?

Going with A because it says "without removing the current hard drive." While M.2 can be ADDED (if there are slots available) without removing the current HD, SAS would be the best solution here.

Selected Answer: A
SAS : a statistical software suite developed by SAS Institute for data management. When a program executes, SAS reads data values from the input buffer or creates them by executing SAS language statements. SAS assigns the values to the appropriate variables in the program data vector. The question asked, which of the following storage device should be installed. A is most suitable.

The question reads: Which of the following "storage devices" should the technician install to BEST accomplish the objective? The SAS you mentioned is a type of software. Unless they meant the SAS SSD (Serial-Attached SCSI solid-state drive). Either way, the SAS SSD and the SSD would both take up a SATA port, while an NVMe M.2 drive could be installed in a dedicated port on the Motherboard or installed in a PCIe slot using an adapter. M.2s are also the fastest solution of the options listed.
