From CompTIA's book: "Vertical or horizontal lines—Marks that appear in the same place (referred to as repetitive defects) are often due to dirty feed rollers (note that there are rollers in the toner cartridge and fuser unit too) or a damaged or dirty photosensitive drum."

Selected Answer: D
Thin, vertical lines across printed pages can often indicate a problem with the printer's drum or imaging unit. Performing a drum-cleaning procedure can help remove any debris or contaminants from the drum surface, improving print quality and resolving the issue of unintended lines on printed pages.

Vertical and horizantal lines or called streaks meaning the drum or roller can have finger print or dirt that is smugding the toner on the pages as it passes through the fuser .It is normally caused by the roller . If the marks are always visible on the pages then it most likely a drum causing this issue and can be fixed by cleaning the drum.

Selected Answer: D
D. Perform the drum-cleaning procedure. The thin, vertical lines on the pages printed from the multifunction printer are most likely caused by a dirty drum. A drum-cleaning procedure will clean the drum, which will remove any dirt, dust or toner that is causing the lines. This step should be done first as it is the easiest solution and may resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, then the technician can try other steps such as replacing the drum or the toner.
