Selected Answer: C
*MTTR - Mean Time To Repair - how much time this takes to recover, on average *RTO - Recovery Time Objective - your goal for amount of time to recover *RPO - Recovery Point Objective - your goal for acceptable amount of data loss *MTBF - Mean Time Between Failures - how much time between failures, on average It's RPO

From these definitions you gave relative to the question, the answer is obviously D - Mean Time Before Failure.

I think perhaps they are purposely inaccurate so that comptia doesnt shut this site down. Always look for the most voted answer instead.

The term that BEST defines the metric of finding the maximum amount of data loss that can occur before ongoing business operations would be impacted is: C. RPO (Recovery Point Objective). Recovery Point Objective (RPO) refers to the maximum tolerable amount of data loss that an organization is willing to accept in the event of a disaster or disruption. It represents the point in time to which data must be recovered to resume business operations with minimal impact. In other words, RPO defines the acceptable data loss threshold, and any data loss beyond this threshold may impact ongoing business operations. Therefore, RPO is the most relevant metric for determining the maximum allowable data loss in a business continuity or disaster recovery scenario.

Examples of RPOs include time between data backups for business financial data/banking transactions, customer relationship management databases, and patient records. Business units may each be able to continue to function if they lose data from within a specified period (the RPO).

According to cloudguru: RPO - maximum time our backups are reliable. So many topics were nor covered there. I feel cheated by them.

The wording is tricky lol but... I go with D: "MTBF" which asked for the average loss that can occur "before ongoing"... (VS) C: "RPO" that calculates the maximum amount of data loss, expressed in the "after" the incident though ...but I could be mistaken too :)

The keyword is "data loss" which means it is RPO, not average loss of availability/downtime

RPO refers to the maximum acceptable amount of data loss that an organization is willing to tolerate in the event of a disruption or disaster. It represents the point in time to which data must be recovered in order to resume operations with an acceptable level of data loss. Determining the RPO helps organizations establish appropriate backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and ensure business continuity.

RPO is how much data that can be lost after you recover, RTO is how much time something can be down. Ex. RTO can be 5 hours, but RPO can be 1 day. You have 5 hours to fix it and data loss 24s(previous of increm or diff back up)

RPO is your goal for the maximum amount of data the organization can tolerate losing. MTBF is the average time between system breakdowns. Question is asking for maximum amount of data loss that can occur before impacting business.

You defined RTO not RPO. Your favorite mmo can go down for 6 hours (RTO) and allowed a max rollback time(RPO) of one day.

Recovery point objective (RPO) is the maximum acceptable amount of data loss after an unplanned data-loss incident, expressed as an amount of time. This is generally thought of as the point in time before the event at which data can be successfully recovered -- that is, the time elapsed since the most recent reliable backup.
