It's important to really know what you are dealing with before committing to a price. For instance, water spilled on a Macbook Pro may cause a failure of a small piece inside but the nature of Apple means it will be pricey and difficult to fix. Also warranties often don't cover water damage so before diving in, find out how much liability is on your end if you fail to be able to fix an issue or an issue is larger than you realize. Always look for glaring issues such as burn marks on a part (wet parts can have electricty arc or heat across pieces, frying and destroying them). Water Damage is a risky commitment to fix, especially if the client is a bit too embarrassed to be honest or has tried to turn it on repeatedly. Verify if they ever booted it up only to have it crash and stop booting after. This is a good sign that water damage caused some internal physical harm that should be investigated.

I would go with A and B, it's best to open up the laptop and see the extent of the water damage before committing to a price.

No it isn't. It's asking what to do NEXT after the user wants to know how much getting it fixed will cost. The tech needs to evaluate what part(s) are damaged.

I picked A and B but, I don't understand why we can't put computer parts in rice. I know this is probably a dumb question just curious.

Those two answers are as incorrect as they are stupid. The answer should be C alone, so that you can get an idea how long it will take for you to do the work.

I believe the answer is A and B. You must first identify the problems so that requires you to perform an examination on the laptop. As a result, you should remove the casing and document the locations of the screws that were removed.

Both questions A, B, and C looks like they can be either or, however in CompTIA case they want the most likely answer(s) that they see is most important. To me most anything of those three can be the correct answer(s) since before you do anything to replace a particular part or the whole device, you always want to make sure you organize and document each part; as well as research tool repairs from a tutorial either online or from a book. I say it could've been Answers A and C since B kind of highlights answer A but A covers on a higher scale whereas answer B only wants you to organize screw locations and document it.

I would say B and C, before getting into that rabbit hole. You have to know what you dealing with and there could be hidden screws or latches.

The question is what should you do to Verify It Is Repairable, BEFORE committing to a price... so what of these options would help you there? I would argue that you should read your service manual/online guides Before you do anything, and consulting colleagues about it is always helpful. Two of the other options are what you do AFTER the repair process has begun. and that whole "putting wet electronics in a bag of rice for a few days" thing is just something you tell people to do to punish them for spilling stuff on them. It doesn't actually help, but at least it makes them suffer without their electronics for a few days. ;)

1. you remove the laptop case diagnose witch parts could be or affected by the spilt, so you can organize them if they are replaceable. 2. document the screw so that you don't wrongful screw the back in wrong places.
