Lighting can help provide visibility at night and deter potential intruders, but it may not necessarily stop an intruder who is determined to enter a facility. Access control vestibules, fencing, are more directly aimed at preventing entry. Alarms and signage can also serve as a deterrent and provide a way to alert security personnel if an intrusion occurs.

Intruders can be detected by strong lightning, alarms, and sensors. However, these measures alone don't physically prevent intruders from bypassing security. Signage may discourage intruders but doesn't physically stop them. Access control vestibules and fences can physically prevent intruders from accessing valuable assets and restricted areas.

Access control vestibules: Access control vestibules are enclosed spaces or rooms located at entry points that require individuals to pass through multiple layers of access control measures before gaining entry to a secured area. This can include ID verification, biometric authentication, security guards, or controlled entry systems. Access control vestibules help prevent unauthorized access by creating a controlled and monitored entry point, increasing the difficulty for intruders to breach the facility. Fencing: Fencing is a physical barrier erected around the perimeter of a facility or specific areas to restrict unauthorized entry. Fences can be made of various materials such as metal, concrete, or wire mesh and can have additional features like barbed wire or electronic sensors. Fencing provides a clear boundary and serves as a deterrent to potential intruders, making it more challenging for them to gain unauthorized access to the premises.

keyword is STOP hence we need preventive controls. Alarm, lighting are deterrent at best, alarm and sensors can act as detective control - access control vestibules and fencing are the only preventive access controls here.
