The xwininfo command is a tool used to retrieve information about an X Window System window. It can be used to determine the geometry (size and position) of a window, the window ID, the window hierarchy, the name of the window, the class of the window, and the name of the program that created the window, among other information. This information can be useful for debugging X11 applications and for customizing the X11 environment. For example, the window ID retrieved from xwininfo can be used with the xprop command to retrieve additional information about the window, or to manipulate the window's properties.
