Here's how it works:
Place the cursor on the line you want to copy.
Type yy (which stands for "yank line"). This will copy the current line into the vi buffer.
Move the cursor to the location where you want to paste the copied line.
Type p (which stands for "put"). This will paste the copied line from the vi buffer to the new location.
The yy command can be used to copy one or more lines, depending on the number that precedes it. For example, 3yy would copy the current line and the two lines below it.
