[All CWNA-107 Questions]

The BSA of an AP covers the area used by the sales and marketing department. Thirty-five stations operate in this space. The users indicate that they need more throughput and all stations are 5 GHz capable 802.11ac clients. The current AP configuration uses 20 MHz channels in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. What is the least expensive solution available for increasing throughput for these users without implementing configuration options that are not recommended?

  • A. Use a 160 MHz channel on the 5 GHz radio
  • B. Use a 40 MHz channel on the 5 GHz radio
  • C. Install a second AP in the coverage area
  • D. Use a 40 MHz channel on the 2.4 GHz radio

Current AP configuration indicates it is optimally capable of functioning according to the 802.11n standard. Since the client STAs operate in the 5GHz band according to the 802.11ac standard (a higher standard compared to 802.11n), the least expensive solution would be to make the client devices communicate in the 5GHz band with the AP according to the 802.11n standard (a lower standard compared to 802.11ac). This rules out option A as the channel width in 802.11n is 40MHz maximum. Thus Option B is the correct answer.

Key here is the "least expensive way", adding another AP is a solution but incurs additional cost. Changing the channel width from 20Mhz to 40Mhz theoretically doubles the avalailable bandwidth. The answer is B
