This option is often implemented to track activities and events during the runtime of the web server, allowing for separate logs for different sessions or instances of the server.
When IIS records the logs in the W3C Extended Log Format, the IIS stores all the logged events in the GMT format, instead of the format of the local time zone for the system. This point must be considered during the examination of the logs because IIS creates a new log file for the next day at midnight in GMT. I just read the CHFI documentation regarding IIS logging. Module 9, page 928 "IIS stores all the logged events in the GMT format (...) This point must be considered during the examination of the logs becasue IIS creates a new log file for the next day at midnight GMT"
