If we want to use Wireshark to capture the Wi-Fi traffic (the 802.11 protocol packets) we need to purchase an external USB adapter like AirPcap that captures the WLANairpcap frames and delivers this data to Wireshark. When using AirPcap, Wireshark displays a special toolbar that provides direct control of the external wireless adapter during packet capture.
