Mirai is a piece of malware that deliberately finds IoT devices to infect. Once a target device is infected, Mirai adds the infected IoT device to a botnet. Mirai was built for two main purposes: to find and infect other IoT devices to further grow the botnet and to participate in DDoS attacks based on commands received from a remote C&C infrastructure.
