Question #: 99
Topic #: 1
[All Professional Cloud Network Engineer Questions]

You are designing a Partner Interconnect hybrid cloud connectivity solution with geo-redundancy across two metropolitan areas. You want to follow Google-recommended practices to set up the following region/metro pairs:

• (region 1/metro 1)
• (region 2/metro 2)

What should you do?

  • A. Create a Cloud Router in region 1 with two VLAN attachments connected to metro1-zone1-x.
Create a Cloud Router in region 2 with two VLAN attachments connected to metro1-zone2-x.
  • B. Create a Cloud Router in region 1 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone1-x.
Create a Cloud Router in region 2 with two VLAN attachments connected to metro2-zone2-x.
  • C. Create a Cloud Router in region 1 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone2-x.
Create a Cloud Router in region 2 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro2-zone2-x.
  • D. Create a Cloud Router in region 1 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone1-x and one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone2-x.
Create a Cloud Router in region 2 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro2-zone1-x and one VLAN attachment to metro2-zone2-x.

Selected Answer: D
Option D is correct because it follows the recommended practice of having geo-redundancy across two metropolitan areas, with each Cloud Router having one VLAN attachment in each metro. This provides redundancy in case of a failure in one of the metros. Option A is incorrect because it has two VLAN attachments in the same metro, which does not provide the desired level of redundancy. Option B is incorrect because it has only one VLAN attachment in one of the metros, which also does not provide the desired level of redundancy. Option C is incorrect because it has only one VLAN attachment in each metro, which again does not provide the desired level of redundancy.

Selected Answer: D
Option D is the correct answer. To set up a geo-redundant Partner Interconnect solution, it is recommended to use multiple Cloud Routers across different metropolitan areas in different regions to provide high availability and redundancy. The recommended approach is to have a Cloud Router in each region with one or more VLAN attachments connected to each metropolitan area. In this case, you should create a Cloud Router in region 1 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone1-x and one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone2-x. Similarly, create a Cloud Router in region 2 with one VLAN attachment connected to metro2-zone1-x and one VLAN attachment to metro2-zone2-x. This configuration allows for redundancy across two metropolitan areas and two regions.

• D. Create a Cloud Router in region 1 w/ one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone1-x and one VLAN attachment connected to metro1-zone2-x. Create a Cloud Router in region 2 w/ one VLAN attachment connected to metro2-zone1-x and one VLAN attachment connected to metro2-zone2-x.

I think A is more likely than D source: https://cloud.google.com/network-connectivity/docs/interconnect/concepts/partner-overview 99.99% availability requires at least four VLAN attachments across two metros, one in each edge availability domain (metro availability zone). You also need two Cloud Routers (one in each Google Cloud region of a VPC network). Associate one Cloud Router with each pair of VLAN attachments.
