In theory you do not need to have turnk, but following Junipers doc: https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/multicast-l2/topics/topic-map/redundant-trunk-groups.html Before you configure the redundant trunk group on the switch, be sure you have: Disabled RSTP on all switches that will be linked to your redundant trunk group. Configured at least two interfaces with their port mode set to trunk; be sure that these two interfaces are not part of any existing RTG

RTG member ports "can be" access ports or trunk ports. Not "must be". If it is configured as trunk, both ports must have the same vlan membership.

RTP ports need RTP disable. A is wrong. RTP ports are uplink to other switches which are trunk usually
