You have an SAP production landscape that uses SAP HANA databases on Azure. The HANA database server is a Standard_M32ms Azure virtual machine that has 864 GB of RAM.

The HANA database is 400 GB. You expect the database to grow by 40 percent during the next 12 months.

You resize the HANA database server virtual machine to Standard_m64ms and 1,024 GB of RAM.

You need to recommend additional changes to minimize performance degradation caused by database growth.

What should you recommend for the HANA database server?

  • A. Configure additional disks.
  • B. Add a scale out node.
  • C. Add a secondary network interface.
  • D. Increase the number of vCPUs.

Selected Answer: A
In the given answers A seems to be right. When you resize the VM, vCPUs also get added. So the remaining thing is adding additional disks.

I do miss a proper answer, right now we have a machine with 800+ GB of RAM, DB is half of that and will be 560G in 1 year. There is no need to change VM, maybe just add disks, but there is no info regarding that in the question. Question with possible answers don`t make any sense.

SAP recommends that the RAM would be double the size of the data, as delta merge processes might take a lot of memory (potentially same as the data). that being said, I dont understand why adding additional disk might help with performance in this case...
