Selected Answer: D
Azure Arc allows you to manage and govern your on-premises, multi-cloud, and edge environments from a single control plane in Azure. To onboard your on-premises VM1 to Microsoft Defender for Cloud, you need to first install the Azure Connected Machine agent on the VM. This agent enables VM1 to connect to Azure Arc, and from there, you can enable Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

Selected Answer: C
Answer C: A machine that has Azure Arc-enabled servers becomes an Azure resource. When you install the Log Analytics agent on it, it appears in Defender for Cloud with recommendations, like your other Azure resources. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/defender-for-cloud/quickstart-onboard-machines Nothing about Azure Connected Machine agent is mentioned in the above doc. From: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-arc/servers/agent-overview The Azure Connected Machine agent enables you to manage your Windows and Linux machines hosted outside of Azure on your corporate network or other cloud providers.

Just to update the question here, I think the question is more or less deprecated. Log analytics will retire in August 2024 where on the link bellow they recommend use Azure Monitor to monitor everything. More info: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/agents-overview#consolidating-legacy-agents ------- Log Analytics agent is still mentioned in the documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/agents-overview#consolidating-legacy-agents

Selected Answer: D
To connect hybrid machines to Azure, you install the Azure Connected Machine agent on each machine. This agent doesn't replace the Azure Log Analytics agent / Azure Monitor Agent. The Log Analytics agent or Azure Monitor Agent for Windows and Linux is required in order to: Proactively monitor the OS and workloads running on the machine Manage it using Automation runbooks or solutions like Update Management Use other Azure services like Microsoft Defender for Cloud You can install the Connected Machine agent manually, or on multiple machines at scale, using the deployment method that works best for your scenario.

My apology, the correct answer is C, considering the question is specifically asking for Microsoft Defender for Cloud. If the question is to on-board the VM on Azure via Azure Arc, then the answer is D.

Question is tricky, CISSP kind. It didn't ask to on-board the VM on Azure, rather on-board the VM to Defender. So, Answer would be C.
