1. No it will no redirected instead it will proxy 2. No it will no redirected instead it will proxy 3. No because user3 doesn't need to be proxied to cas02 because there is owa on ex03

For question 1, there will be a redirection. As we are talking about a remote site and as the remote CAS server have a value on the ExternalUrl, the Exchange Server 2016 server will make a redirection. To have a CAS-To-CAS proxying behavior you need to set ExternalUrl to $null on CAS01. Anyway there is something incoherent inside the question. The first table inform us that Brussel site is a non-Internet facing site & by definition a non-Internet facing site should have a $null value set up inside ExternalUrl of all Web Services.

i think Yes – Redirection as the CAS is defined with an external URL No – Intersite Proxying to CAS02 No – User 3 is on Ex03 itself, local proxy to the copy handling mailbox.

The Exchange 2016 will proxy the request to all CAS servers for question 1 and 2. Fro question 3 he will do a local proxy to himself. The keyword here is proxy and not redirect so I think all the answers should be set to NO

All users connect to https://mail.contoso.com/owa to access Outlook on the web. This is the exchange server 2016. So user 1 & 2 will be redirected.

Answer 3 is NO. EX03 ( Exchange 2016 ) will perform a LOCAL PROXY to himself.

why would user3 be proxied? given that his mbx is on Exchange server 2016 (which contains the CAS role) and his mailbox resides at that location
