Question #: 54
Topic #: 1
[All 70-741 Questions]

You have an IP Address Management (IPAM) deployment that is used to manage all of the DNS servers on your network. IPAM is configured to use Group Policy provisioning.
You discover that a user adds a new mail exchanger (MX) record to one of the DNS zones.
You want to identify which user added the record.
You open Event Catalog on an IPAM server, and you discover that the most recent event occurred yesterday.
You need to ensure that the operational events in the event catalog are never older than one hour.
What should you do?

  • A. From the properties on the DNS zones, modify the refresh interval.
  • B. From an IPAM_DNS Group Policy object (GPO), modify the Group Policy refresh interval.
  • C. From Task Scheduler, modify the Microsoft\Windows\IPAM\Audit task.

E. Ask yourself if you are investigating something that happened yesterday, "why on earth would I want to stop logs older than 1 hour?!" then speak to the person responsible for that request!

I think C is correct, which is the given answer. A. The refresh interval is a settings for DNS zone itself. https://www.dnsqueries.com/en/forum/dns_howto/What_is_the_refresh_Interval_0/ D. Update-IpamServer is a cmdlet to update IPAM. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/ipamserver/update-ipamserver?view=win10-ps B. I can't find documents related to IPAM_DNS Group Policy object (GPO).

"modify the Microsoft\Windows\IPAM\Audit task" means that you change default frequency to one hour.

IPAM scheduled data collection tasks are summarized below. These tasks can be viewed and modified in Task Scheduler by navigating to Microsoft > Windows > IPAM. Audit Collects DHCP and IPAM server operational events. Also collects events from domain controllers, NPS, and DHCP servers for IP address tracking. 1 day Indefinite
