Let’s imagine you have a finished dashboard you need to share with your colleagues. What's the best way to give them access to the dashboard? The answer depends on a number of factors. If colleagues need to keep the dashboard up to date, or need access to all the content in the workspace, consider adding them to the workspace. If colleagues just need to see that dashboard and not all the content in the workspace, you again have alternatives. If a few people need just that one dashboard, then sharing the dashboard could be the best solution. However, if the dashboard is part of a bigger set of content you need to distribute to many colleagues, then publishing an app is likely the best choice. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-how-to-collaborate-distribute-dashboards-reports

A: app workplace, "update app", Access only has 1. access underly data, 2. make copy, 3. share options. no edit B: Dashboard share, although it showed "same access", but read from another artical, only either "read" or "read&share" 2 rights. no edit. So D seems the only way to grant edit & share right.

Tested all, D is correct. For A, from the app workplace, click “Update app” , and then configure the “Permission” (NOT Access) settings. For B, Share the dashboard, and then modify the “Share” (NOT Access) settings of the dashboard. For C, Configure security for the dataset “RLS setting” For D, correct, Click the ellipsis besides App workspace’s name -> “workspace Access” -> Modify (Add, Remove, change the Role to Admin/Member/Contributor/Viewer).

So confused with this question. The answer is here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-new-workspaces#:~:text=the%20workspace%20OneDrive.-,Roles%20in%20the%20new%20workspaces,365%20groups%2C%20and%20distribution%20lists.&text=Everyone%20in%20a%20user%20group%20gets%20the%20role%20you've%20assigned. User1 needs to be able to edit and publish dashboards in the Workspace App...make them a contributor role. You can also do that through the access setting...

The following article gives a clear answer to this question, which for me is B: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-share-dashboards Any other proposition?

I have tried the sharing route. Easy to share, but there doesn't seem to be a permission option to allow the updating of a report. I will have to go with (D).

Like in the answer on page 15, this means you'll have do do this for each dashboard because user1 needs to be able to edit and publish all dashboards in the app workspace.

From this blog: ...When you share a dashboard or report, the people you share it with can view it and interact with it, but can't edit it.... So, users (user1 in this example) can't edit reports and dashboards with dashboard sharing, she can only use and reshare.
