You plan the migration from Dynamics AX 2009 to a Dynamics 365 Finance environment. You will be moving data. You need to create a data package from a group of entities in Dynamics AX 2009. What should you use?
You can use the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Data migration tool (DMT) to migrate your data from AX 2009 to Finance and Operations. Using the DMT is the only supported upgrade path from AX 2009.
Same. My answer is C.
Data Import Export Framework wasn't introduced until AX2012.
Dynamics AX 2009 Data migration tool (DMT). This is an incorrect answer because DMT is a tool that helps you migrate your data from Dynamics AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 Finance. It does not allow you to create a data package from a group of entities in Dynamics AX 2009.
The Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 can indeed be used to retrieve data that must be migrated to finance and operations1. However, the Data migration tool (DMT) is the only supported upgrade path from AX 2009 to finance and operations2.
The DMT is specifically designed to help you find and fill gaps between the table schemas for each version, as well as helping you move your data2. It provides a more comprehensive and tailored approach for migrating data from Dynamics AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 Finance2.
While DIXF creates a staging table for each entity in the Microsoft Dynamics AX database where the target table resides3, DMT goes a step further by allowing you to map the table fields between the source and target environments, apply conversions to the source data, set up default values for the source data, and apply query filters2. This makes DMT a more robust tool for this specific migration scenario.
D. Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF)
The Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) is a tool that allows you to export data from Dynamics AX 2009 and import it into Dynamics 365 Finance efficiently. It provides data entities and data packages to facilitate the data migration process. With DIXF, you can define the data entities you want to export, configure data packages, and perform data migration tasks effectively.
TAKEN FROM MICROSOFT OFFICIAL PRACTICE TEST ANSWER EXPLANATION....
DMT The Data Migration Tool - data migration - Dynamics AX 2009 and Finance and Operations apps.
The Upgrade Analyzer - data migration between AX2012 R2/R3 and Finance and Operations apps.
Dynamics AX 2009 Data packages are used in Dynamics 365 Finance.
Lifecycle Services code upgrade tool - Data migration between Dynamics AX 2012 and finance and operations apps.
I followed the link provided and it confirmed the answer was C not D.
The first line reads "You can use the Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) service in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to retrieve data" but if you read on it says "The export package that the Data migration tool (DMT) generates can consist of one or many data entities." Since the question says you "need to create a data package", the correct tool is DMT. DIXF generates the data for DMT to create a package.

The correct answer is D as stated.
Check the link provided and go trough:
"You can use the Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) service in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to retrieve data that must be migrated to Finance and Operations."
I would stick with D, as it is a specific question regarding the data package creation, which is art of the whole migration process. DMT is the overall methodology and DIXF is a tool to create the data package to migrate.

Guys click on the link provided jezz. I quote from Microsoft,
"You can use the Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) service in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to retrieve data that must be migrated to Finance and Operations."
First sentence on the page in the link provided. It mentions DMT but only as the tool that generates the data entities. It never says "Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Data migration tool" in that sequence anywhere provided.
Answer D is correct:
"You can use the Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) service in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to retrieve data that must be migrated to Finance and Operations."
