Asynchronous failover is because of high latency, and asynchronous failover can only have manual failover, do not support automatic failover.

Asynchronous-commit replicas support only the manual failover mode. Moreover, because they are never synchronized, they support only forced failover. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/availability-groups/windows/failover-and-failover-modes-always-on-availability-groups?view=sql-server-ver15

Even though the MS is 200, I'd like an async auto failover cluster. The reason they suggest there should be manual is because the latency is so high, that a few transactions might get lost before the hardening phase. The cost for auto failover as compared to manual is about 200ms worth of transactions lost for a much, much quicker failover.
