Suggested Answer:
Box 1: Azure Monitor -
Metrics in Azure Monitor are stored in a time-series database which is optimized for analyzing time-stamped data. This makes metrics particularly suited for alerting and fast detection of issues.

Box 2: Azure Log Analytics -
Log data collected by Azure Monitor is stored in a Log Analytics workspace, which is based on Azure Data Explorer. Logs in Azure Monitor are especially useful for performing complex analysis across data from a variety of sources.

Box 3: Azure Log Analytics -

Here are right ans as per my labs - 1. Metrics on Azure Infra - Azure Monitor https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/platform/data-platform-metrics 2. Functionality of Azure Infra - Azure Monitor Go to Azure Monitor - Service health (Here you can find about functionality of whole infra and will know if there are any issues. There's no such option in Log Analytics so this should not be right ans.) 3. Security of Azure Infra - Azure Log Analytics Azure Security Center stores data that it collects in a Log Analytics workspace where it can be analyzed with other log data.

It's asking about "Monitoring Solution", so the answer should be Azure-Monitor for all. Azure Log Analytics will analyze the data collected by monitoring afterwards, by running queries on it.

1. Question is vague, Azure Monitor may not manage all metrics in Azure Infrastructure. However for purpose of question. Answer for metric should be Azure Monitor as it does display metric for Azure VM at least. 2. There is no doubt functionality can be monitored in Azure Monitor (however this has as well limitations) 3. Security in Azure Infra can be seen from Azure Security Center. Since that is not an option here I will go with Log Analytics and not with Azure Monitor (as Azure Monitor is not meant to track security alert). Hence, there is a doubt that probably this is an old question. Please see link below for more details: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/monitor-reference

I would suggest : Azure Monitor Azure Monitor Azure Log Analytics , simply based upon the fact how Azure Monitor is advertised on Azure Monitor official webpage. They take about first two points directly but Security is treated separately.

That question really confused me. I guess it's just outdated. According to Microsofts FAQ the answer should now be "Azure Monitor" for all. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/faq Quote: "In September 2018, Microsoft combined Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights into a single service to provide powerful end-to-end monitoring of your applications and the components they rely on. Features in Log Analytics and Application Insights have not changed, although some features have been rebranded to Azure Monitor in order to better reflect their new scope. The log data engine and query language of Log Analytics is now referred to as Azure Monitor Logs. See Azure Monitor terminology updates."

Box 1. Azure Monitor- provides base-level infrastructure metrics and logs for most services in Azure. You can interact with the metrics in several ways, including charting them in Azure portal, accessing them through the REST API, or querying them using PowerShell or CLI. Azure Monitor also offers its data directly into Log Analytics and other services, where you can query and combine it with data from other sources on premises or in the cloud. Box2- Azure Log Analytics- helps correlate the usage and performance data collected by Application Insights with configuration and performance data across the Azure resources that support the app. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/reference-architectures/app-service-web-app/app-monitoring Box3-Security Center uses the Log Analytics agent to collect and store data. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/security-center/faq-general

Azure Monitor for Security monitoring is not possible. Must use log analytics. If you still think its Azure Monitor then please share steps how you can do this.
