You are designing an Azure solution for a company that wants to move a .NET Core web application from an on-premises data center to Azure. The web application relies on a Microsoft SQL Server 2016 database on Windows Server 2016. The database server will not move to Azure.
A separate networking team is responsible for configuring network permissions.
The company uses Azure ExpressRoute and has an ExpressRoute gateway connected to an Azure virtual network named VNET1.
You need to recommend a solution for deploying the web application.
Solution: Deploy the web application to a web app hosted in a Premium App Service plan. Configure VNET Integration for the App Service plan.
Does this meet the goal?

  • A. Yes
  • B. No

Suggested Answer: A 🗳️
VNet Integration gives your web app access to resources in your virtual network. VNet Integration is often used to enable access from apps to a databases and web services running in your VNet.

Should be NO. ASE or regional VNET integration is required. question states "VNET integration" and not "regional VNET integration" "The gateway required VNet Integration feature doesn't integrate an app with a VNet that has an ExpressRoute Gateway. Even if the ExpressRoute Gateway is configured in coexistence mode the VNet Integration doesn't work. If you need to access resources through an ExpressRoute connection, then you can use the regional VNet Integration feature or an App Service Environment, which runs in your VNet." https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/web-sites-integrate-with-vnet#accessing-on-premises-resources

This is only if we are thinking about gateway-required VNet Integration. In the same URL ice3d shared look right above the purple box. Copy pasting ""No additional configuration is required for the regional VNet Integration feature to reach through your VNet to on-premises resources. You simply need to connect your VNet to on-premises resources by using ExpressRoute or a site-to-site VPN. question states "VNET integration" and not "regional VNET integration" -- I think regional VNET integration has been in preview up until recently, so when this question was written it wasn't considered. So I agree, the answer should be NO.

The VNet Integration feature has two variations: Regional VNet Integration: When you connect to Azure Resource Manager virtual networks in the same region, you must have a dedicated subnet in the VNet you're integrating with. Gateway-required VNet Integration: When you connect to VNet in other regions or to a classic virtual network in the same region, you need an Azure Virtual Network gateway provisioned in the target VNet. Given the above by default I believe it is "Regional VNet Integration" when "VNet Integration" is mentioned so the answer is yes.

answer is correct No additional configuration is required for the regional VNet Integration feature to reach through your VNet to on-premises resources. You simply need to connect your VNet to on-premises resources by using ExpressRoute or a site-to-site VPN.

Right answer. Vnet integration access resources in private networks that are connected to Azure with a VPN or ExpressRoute.

Answer is NO. The answer would allow connections to virtual network but would not fulfill the requirement to connect to the on-premises SQL Server.

Since there's an express route in place then the connection to the on-premises SQL server should work.

i think why the answered is Yes because of this "Configure VNET Integration for the App Service plan.", where in other question is just deployed and no configuration activity mentioned

"Require a Standard, Premium, PremiumV2, or Elastic Premium pricing plan." According the requirements of vnet, its not necessary to have premimum but this solution works so answer is still Yes.

ASE is required which needs Isolated Plan and not Premium one

The answer should be NO, as both Standard and Premium offer VNet Integration. However, that was only offered starting 3/12/19, so would the exam have the updated answer or the answer from when these practice exams were written? I'm not sure how often exams are updated.
