DirectLakeOnly: All queries use Direct Lake storage mode only. Fall back to DirectQuery mode is disabled. If data can't be loaded into memory, an error is returned.

Direct Lake is the preferred mode. if SQL views are queried from the warehouse, it requires a fallback — because SQL views are not supported in Direct Lake mode so it will fallback to DirectQuery. and Roles (0)means no Row-Level Security (RLS) is configured. No mention of Object-Level Security (OLS) . so its undefined. Direct Query and Undefined.

DirectQuery, Undefined Here is the kicker, if you are in Direct Lake Mode, and see 'Querying SQL', it will fall back to Direct Query. Direct Lake Mode can't handle SQL for various reasons, some being the type of data (likely Parquet), others being Direct Lake mode can't handle SQL Operations like Queries and Aggregations, joins, etc. If you see Direct Lake, and they are talking about SQL, think Direct Query. Good luck everyone -

Normally this would be true, but the visual shows that the Direct Lake Behavior is set to Direct Lake Only to ensure fall back to DirectQuery will not occur.
