I think it should be Create a domain zone add custom domain and verify domain

Absolutely no reason to create a domain zone. Please test or at least do a little reading before posting, this is only adding confusion... As allready stated in the first post, the answer is very clear and the link posted is still valid https://github.com/uglide/azure-content/blob/master/articles/active-directory/active-directory-add-domain.md
