HOTSPOT -
You plan to create an Azure Storage account in the Azure region of East US 2.
You need to create a storage account that meets the following requirements:
✑ Replicates synchronously.
✑ Remains available if a single data center in the region fails.
How should you configure the storage account? To answer, select the appropriate options in the answer area.
NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.
Hot Area:

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer:
Box 1: Zone-redundant storage (ZRS)
Zone-redundant storage (ZRS) replicates your data synchronously across three storage clusters in a single region.
LRS would not remain available if a data center in the region fails
GRS and RA GRS use asynchronous replication.
Box 2: StorageV2 (general purpose V2)
ZRS only support GPv2.

This question is tricky because with ZRS, data is replicated three times across 2 to 3 facilities with in the same/single region. It talk about just 1 datacenter fail. So ZRS still works fine. In theory GRS also works but at minimal you need ZRS

Answer is correct, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-redundancy because LRS and ZRS are redundancy options in Primary region Redundancy in the primary region Data in an Azure Storage account is always replicated three times in the primary region. Azure Storage offers two options for how your data is replicated in the primary region: Locally redundant storage (LRS) copies your data synchronously three times within a single physical location in the primary region. LRS is the least expensive replication option, but is not recommended for applications requiring high availability. Zone-redundant storage (ZRS) copies your data synchronously across three Azure availability zones in the primary region. For applications requiring high availability, Microsoft recommends using ZRS in the primary region, and also replicating to a secondary region.

You are wrong, they ask for synchronously replication, and the given answer was GRS that geo is asynchronously. So the correct answer is ZRS.

I would go with ZRS over GRS. ZRS deals multiple availaity zones within the region. No one asked about replication to another region. So No need of GRS. Besides, GRS copies the data asynchronously in secondary Region.

First choice should be "zone-redundant storage" , 2nd choice is good.

GRS is incorrect: it runs asynchronously Correct is ZRS: Runs synchronously and keeps working in the case of a single datacenter (or availability zone) failure, but not in the case of an entire region failure.
