Answers are below. 1. VM1 Only File Recovery of VM can be done in the same VM. See Item Level store in the below article. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/about-azure-vm-restore 2. A new Azure virtual machine only To Restore a VM, we can restore to a new VM only. (not existing VM) We can restore files/folders/disks to the same existing VM but not the entire VM. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-arm-restore-vms
