to me the answer is DNSSEC since it will verify that the records are originating from an authorized sender. MX records dont do that, they can point to a whole different server or be CNAMEd to hosting platforms so how would that perform validation?

MX is correct. I add before using it. https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/add-email-through-office-365/ See the picture there is a option for MX.

Now TXT is the only way of verifying, but previously Azure had an option of adding an MX record with a very high number for priority too (they removed it now), do don't get confused, you won't be getting it in the exam, it's an old question.

TXT record is better for adding a custom domain. MX record is more like for exchange server/email
